As well as performing and running this agency, I also teach and am available for session work (live and studio).

I’m an experienced fiddle and dobro teacher, having taught private instrumental lessons and workshops for several years, including at the prestigious Sore Fingers Summer Schools. I’m also one of the founders of the Bath Bluegrass School, which offers private lessons and puts on workshop days in the Bath area. I’m based just outside Bath in Bradford-on-Avon, with easy access by road and train for private lessons. For people further afield, I can also offer Skype lessons.

I will consider all levels on both fiddle and dobro, and primarily teach bluegrass and old time American music but also British folk styles to an intermediate level. I tend to teach mostly by ear and without music notation, but can teach music reading as well. I like to work on ear training and improvisation.

Give me a call or send me an email to arrange a lesson.

Session work:

If you are looking to add a bit of a bluegrass/folk/country sound to your album, I can offer fiddle, dobro, electric lap steel and clawhammer banjo and backing vocals. I can also do the same live for tours, one off gigs and dep work.

If you’d like to discuss session work and get a free rough demo of how your song could sound, just send me an email.

For examplaura-with-dobro-and-fiddleles of my playing, have a listen to my work with The Carrivick Sisters and Cardboard Fox.
